Kiehl’s Sings A Skincare Lullaby

February 23, 2010  4:23 pm

The night serum trend that took off last year is still going strong in 2010, and the latest brand to get in on the action is Kiehl’s, which released its new Midnight Recovery Concentrate earlier this month. While studies have emerged questioning the actual benefits of these nocturnal cure-alls, we tend to believe the hype—call it wishful thinking—and continue to slather them on before bedtime. We were particularly excited to try this latest offering because its 99 percent naturally derived ingredient list offers a point of difference in a market saturated with synthetic formulas, effective as they may be. Boasting a water-free concentration of squalane and night-blooming evening primrose oil to restore the skin’s natural moisture balance and maintain elasticity—as well as lavender, rosemary, geranium, and rose essential oils to stimulate skin repair functions while brightening, softening, and detoxifying—a few drops of the stuff goes a long way toward soothing dehydration and sallowness. It does, in fact, give you a glow in the morning, too, which we’re happy to take in these last gray days of winter.
