Red Lipstick: To Each Her Own

February 2, 2010  11:05 am

We’ve always maintained that red lipstick needs to be judged on a person-to-person basis. Dior’s discontinued Rouge Lipstick in Fiery Red, for example, looks unreal on our olive skin but might not have the same effect on someone else. Our tip: Try out a few different shades, find the one that’s best for you, and pair it with a clean face and some minimal eye makeup. That appears to be exactly what French actress Delphine Chanéac did last night at the Paris premiere of I Love You Phillip Morris, the new Ewan McGregor/Jim Carrey flick. Chanéac went with an orange-red, similar to Make Up For Ever’s Lacquered Lipstick in 204, which looks unbelievable with her ivory skin and blue eyes—but would probably show up a little eighties/electro-pop on us. What do you think of the color?
