Super, Natural Beauty From New Zealand
March 12, 2010 3:14 pm

New Zealand has always held a certain appeal for us. Sadly, because it’s so unbelievably far, we’ve yet to make it there and only rarely do we have the opportunity to partake of some of its finest exports—a good Marlborough sauvignon blanc and a Flight of the Conchords marathon, among them. Also on the list is Karen Murrell’s Skinfood, a cult natural skincare phenomenon that went global last year, infiltrating the European market but never making it to American soil. Savvy, beauty-inclined jet-setters have sought it out across the pond, though, and the same will no doubt be the case with Murrell’s latest effort, debuting at Le Bon Marché in Paris this weekend.
Murrell, a former model whose grandmother taught her how to make natural soaps and face creams, has taken her operation upscale this time around, creating an eponymous skincare and cosmetics range that combines “aesthetic appeal and outstanding quality with conscience.” Certified-organic ingredients and formulas free of parabens, preservatives, artificial colorants, artificial fragrances, petrochemicals, harsh detergents, talc, and other toxic ingredients are on her agenda—a common one these days, in the ever greening beauty industry. What sets Murrell’s line apart is its adorable 100 percent biodegradable packaging made of corn resin, as well as a few standout products, including her Absolute Luxury facial cream, which hydrates with a matte finish and can double as a primer, and her candelilla wax and evening primrose oil-infused lipsticks. No word as to whether the collection will be hitting our shores anytime soon (Barneys, Bendel’s, are you listening?), but if a trip to Paris—or New Zealand—isn’t in your future, you can buy online here. The international shipping charges are well worth it.

The Karen Murrell range is beyond divine! I have been test-driving the lipstick collection and absolutely adore the colors, and how wearable the lipsticks are.
I second, an international-shipping splurge that’s well worth it!

By naddan on 04/11/10 at 1:16 amLucky for me I’m in New Zealand so can buy Karen Murrell here! This is the first skincare brand I’ve used ever that hasn’t resulted in my skin screaming for mercy! And as a makeup artist in NZ the lipsticks are a delight to use! Adore KM products! Can’t wait for more to come out!
