Gina Brooke’s New Address

When we reported at the end of last month that the makeup arm of the much-loved Japanese beauty brand Shu Uemura would be shuttering its U.S. operations save for an online store, we wondered aloud what would become of its artistic director, Gina Brooke. This weekend, we found out. Brooke, a.k.a. Madonna’s personal face painter (she also works with Anne Hathaway and Gisele Bündchen), has taken up the artistic directing helm at Hourglass Cosmetics. We would follow Brooke to the moon and back if it meant getting her complexion-perfection advice, which mandates good skincare above all else. So the fact that she’s landed at Hourglass, a niche brand that combines advanced ingredient technology with luxurious formulations, means that its line of popular products must meet even her high standards of excellence (Madonna can’t wear just any foundation, after all.) In addition to leading photo shoots and making appearances on behalf of the brand, Brooke will consult on product development as well. In other words, if Hourglass wasn’t on your radar before, it should be now. Look out for a new 12-shade line of cream lipsticks due in August.
