Kate Beckinsale Pumps Up The Volume
The 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival is officially under way, and the first beauty trend to emerge on the red carpet is volume. Jury member Kate Beckinsale took Spring’s bigger-is-better mantra with her to the South of France, calling on Frédéric Fekkai’s Adir Abergel to give her the height and structure necessary to balance the full chiffon skirt from her Marchesa gown at the Robin Hood premiere last night. “It’s a slight homage to the 1950′s pompadour,” said Abergel—so rest assured no Jersey Shore-worthy Bumpits came into play as he coiffed. Instead, the stylist relied on Fekkai’s Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel to give Beckinsale some boost at the root and its Full Blown Volume Styling Whip to coat the length of her hair through the ends. Abergel also used Velcro rollers during the drying process to add extra body and movement to the classic French twist, which was secured with bobby pins. Beckinsale’s highlights make the finger-combed style slightly Elvira-esque, but in a classy Côte d’Azur-appropriate kind of way—don’t you think?
