Oh, Those Sicilian Nights

The new Dolce & Gabbana summer collection will debut at Saks next week, which is always an exciting time for beauty enthusiasts. There’s little not to love about the makeup arm of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s sartorial operation: The seasonal color palettes are dreamt up in collaboration with face-painting legend Pat McGrath; the gold compacts and lipstick tubes make you feel like you’re a part of something particularly luxurious every time you open them; and everything they turn out is meant to meet at the intersection of classic Hollywood glamour and something wholly Italian. This time around, it was about delicate images of wild roses set against the Sicilian night’s “daring shades of romance and mystery,” according to Dolce. As such, a series of nude and pink pigments was matched with darker greens and blues. Standouts include Shocking, a perfect fuchsia nail polish; Laguna, an eye shadow duo that pairs a shimmering deep moss color with aqua for a mix of seascape and garden visuals; and Delicious, an opaque coral/pink lip gloss that is fitting in perfectly with our newfound love of lightweight lip lacquers. It’s like…how did they know?!
