Sephora’s New Handheld Power Tools

May 24, 2010  6:17 pm

I keep a Mason jar full of makeup brushes that never get used on my dresser. They serve as decoration—a pink-feathered, ivory-handled sort of decoration that’s essential to the antique apothecary cabinet mounted on my wall to hold my vast collection of nail polish. The fact that I typically prefer a finger-painting approach to powder, concealer, and blush doesn’t stop me from amassing these design wonders—especially when something new and improved hits the market. Like, say, Sephora’s I.T. Brushes. The 15-piece collection of aluminum-handled makeup applicators is unique for a few reasons: Bright and lightweight, they boast a streamlined silhouette designed by architect Philippe Di Méo (that’s right, architect), which allows perfect application no matter how you hold them (close to the head for more precision, further away for a lighter touch). The coolest part, as far as I’m concerned, is that Di Méo fashioned an original plastic cap for each brush to protect its bristles and allow them to stand vertical on their own—no Mason jar required. Think of the wall adornment, er, application possibilities.
