Tom Ford Evolves Into Makeup
We told you it was coming, and this week Tom Ford’s Private Blend Lip Color Collection finally arrived at select counters across the country. We had the pleasure of viewing the 12-piece line in its element—namely Ford’s impeccably designed Madison Avenue boutique, where it sat in a mirrored room at the rear of the store, which features such other Ford ephemera as a gilded alligator-skin table and perfectly pruned bonsai trees. The lipsticks are formulated with soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter, and chamomile flower oil for an ultra-creamy texture that glides across the lips, and they’re housed within Ford’s signature ivory bullet with gold accents, which acolytes will recognize from flacons of his eaux de parfum. Shades range from bare nude to classic red; our favorites are a unique brick color called Smoke Red, and Black Orchid, an opulent dark raisin. According to press materials, the collection is “the first chapter in Tom Ford’s evolution into makeup.” Yes, dear readers, this is only the beginning.
