Lighting The Eternal Flame With Vera Wang

June 15, 2010  5:10 pm

I’ve been a bridesmaid twice, and both times I was pretty relieved that I didn’t trip when walking down the aisle or forget to fluff the bride’s train at the appropriate moment. Now that I’m planning my own wedding, I’m stuck on what to give the bridesmaids as a thank-you for performing similarly challenging big-day duties. I contemplated shoulder bags made from recycled sails (trust me, they’re cool, and the wedding is in Rhode Island) but recently nixed them in favor of Vera Wang’s new scented candles. The designer has teamed up with candle queen Laura Slatkin of Nest Fragrances to create Floral Bouquet, a scent that’s layered with lily of the valley, gardenia, and Damask rose and finished with green leaves. It’s modern, fresh, and not too fussy. Even better, once the wick has burned, the silver-plated container turns into a keepsake vase to hold flowers—or future bouquet catches.
