Tory Burch Talks Summer Beauty Staples
June 10, 2010 1:00 pm

As evidenced by the hordes of women who carry her gold emblem-emblazoned handbags and wear her easy ballet flats, Tory Burch has a great sense for what we all want to wear. Her beauty savvy is spot-on as well. The designer sticks to classics that keep her looking pretty and polished no matter where she travels—think dark eyeliner, tinted foundation, and a fragrance that brings back memories of her equally stylish family. On the eve of opening her latest boutique in her home state of Pennsylvania, Burch talked shop with Style.com and shared her favorite summer essentials, iPad included.
Your skin is flawless. What’s your secret?
Patricia Wexler. She is my dermatologist and I love her Universal Anti-Aging Moisturizer with SPF 30. It’s great—and inexpensive, too!
So you don’t wear any foundation? I’d need a magnifying mirror to tell.
[Laughs.] Yes, I don’t wear a lot of makeup, really. I pretty much stick to a tinted moisturizer from Bobbi Brown.
Your lip color is the perfect shade of soft strawberry. It would look fantastic as a cardigan, actually. What do you swear by?
NARS has the best colors. The sheer lipstick shade I wear is called Mitzi. I know; I didn’t name it!
What about your eyes? Any tricks for accentuating them?
My favorite thing is this Eye Intensifier Pencil from Sue Devitt. It’s super-thick, so you can do a smoky eye really easily.
You’re out and about quite a bit these days. How do you deal with the sun?
I stay out of it! When I have to be outside, though, there’s this Sunforgettable Mineral Powder from Colorescience that’s so convenient. I carry it around and put it on over my makeup.
Not to invade your personal space, but you smell amazing! What’s on your wrist?
Thanks! It’s Vetiver from Guerlain. It’s the same thing that my father and brothers wear.
Anything else that goes in your tote when traveling?
A baby pillow and my iPad. I just downloaded The Summer We Read Gatsby, which my friend Danielle Ganek wrote. I’ll be reading it on the plane tomorrow!
