Kelis Avoids Dreaded Makeup Melt
Everyone knows the upsides to the summer music festivals—the fun, the tunes, the fashions, the binge drinking—but there’s that one big downside, too: the inescapable heat. We imagine it was particularly bad at this weekend’s Mega Jam in New York. The 90-plus-degree temperatures and rising humidity can best be described as face-melting, which didn’t stop Kelis from pulling out all the stops with her makeup. The singer sported a matte coral/red lip and an ambitious dual-colored eyeliner job—not to mention sleuthing out the perfect magenta brow pencil to complement her berry-tinged curls. We’re feeling sticky just thinking about the application process. She managed to pull it off, though—and play a whole set, no less (the word impressive is an understatement).
