Lush’s New Steam Clean

July 7, 2010  5:28 pm

As temperatures linger in the triple digits here in New York, Manhattanites have found themselves trapped in what seems like an outdoor steam room. We prefer to do our sweating in actual indoor steam rooms, thank you very much. And so does Lush. Taking its cues from Finland’s sauna culture, the handmade cosmetics company is launching two new entirely vegan products for the summer that are designed to work with the steam of your shower to draw out and destroy all kinds of nasty toxins lurking beneath your skin’s surface (you know what you did over the holiday weekend). Its Brimstone Body Scrub uses sulfur powder, China clay, and sea salt to increase circulation and unclog pores, while the aptly named Glorious Mud Body Mask—a thick, vanilla-scented, mineral-rich treatment—is meant to dry into a cakey layer before being rinsed off to reveal a seriously smooth finish. Both products bow next week and are good investments, seeing as how the summer swelter has really only just begun.
