Clinique Plays Laser Tag

August 12, 2010  10:52 am

Fraxel lasers forever changed the way the upwardly mobile reversed dark spots and other signs of aging when they hit the scene five years ago. When it comes to remedying in-depth damage caused by sun exposure, oxidizing agents, and pollution, it’s hard to beat these targeted columns of light, which penetrate deep into the skin to create small wounds, thus inciting the healing process and creating new collagen to diminish wrinkles. There are two cons to this popular dermatologic procedure, though: cost (three treatments are usually required for maximum benefits, each of which will set you back a pretty penny) and recovery time (you’re going to need to clear your social calendar for at least a few weeks until the swollen redness disappears). For those of you seeking similar results without the wound process, Clinique has just released its Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle and UV Corrector. Three patented enzymes work to repair damaged collagen while a high-level peptide complex with whey protein and vitamin A helps replace missing collagen. A cocktail of antioxidants provides that extra, free radical-fighting boost to protect against future damage. No, the topical treatment will not precisely mimic the effects of an actual laser, but just three concentrated drops twice a day will send you on your way to smoother, brighter, younger-looking skin, without a trip to the doctor’s office.
