With cooler temperatures finally settling over Manhattan, I find myself very ready for fall. I want nubby sweaters and patterned tights, and falling leaves, and Macintosh apples and, perhaps most of all, lipstick. While I don’t retire my beloved bullet completely in the summer months, it’s often replaced by lighter-weight tints and glosses. In anticipation of the coming season, I thought it was time to begin the hunt for new lipsticks to love. The latest contender for my affection: Clarins’ new Rouge Prodige. Since this pout-enhancer’s formula is reportedly built to last—high-tech polymers and omega fatty acid-packed Brittany algae extract are mixed with ceramides and waxes for an extra-durable formula—I decided to put it to the test. The color purple is about to have a major moment, so I slicked on a generous layer of creamy Rouge Prodige in Blackberry around 9 a.m. before heading out for the day. Three meals, two giant bottles of water, a bit of canoodling, a slightly turbulent bike ride, and one, two…OK, three glasses of wine later, my Blackberry may have faded slightly, but there was no major budging—which means this lipstick will have staying power in my makeup bag come September as well.
