Anna Sui’s Fragrant Tryst
As is typically the case with Anna Sui, there was plenty to see backstage at her Spring show this week. Aside from makeup maestro Pat McGrath’s “theatrical black glitter” eyes and hairstylist Garren’s Days of Heaven-inspired, middle-parted down ‘dos, Ms. Sui herself was mingling with models and reporters, showing off a fantastic, sparkly charcoal manicure with chunky sequins from her eponymous collection of hard-to-come-by lacquers. “We do the best glitter polishes,” she told us when we inquired about her pro tips. Over at the “beauty bar” Sui sets up every season to showcase her cosmetics line was her eyewear collection and a new fragrance that just bowed this week, available exclusively at the designer’s Soho boutique. Forbdden Affair, as the lemon, red currant, black currant, raspberry, violet, and rose petal accord eau is called, possesses a new technology that allegedly allows the fresh, fruity top notes to “re-burst” with extended wear. Former Anna Sui Beauty spokesmodel Agyness Deyn has been replaced by an ethereal-looking Lily Donaldson, who appears in the perfume’s ads and closed Sui’s show on Wednesday wearing a gilded coronet of flowers.
