A Shampoo With Baltic Beauty Powers

This is turning out to be a good month for eco-friendly skin brands branching into haircare. We reported on Liz Earle’s recent debut last week. Another brand extension we’re excited about is Mádara’s new collection of organic shampoos and conditioners, all of which carry the ECOCERT stamp of approval and feature a bounty of wild plants, berries, and flowers. For those not familiar with this Latvia-based beauty purveyor, Mádara sources all its ingredients in the Baltics, a region known for producing nutrient-rich plants and herbs. The northern summers tend to be harsher and shorter than most, so plants are forced to blossom in a condensed time period, which ups their concentration of beneficial extracts. Mádara picks its crop at peak levels, then blends these super-botanicals into potent fixes for skin, lips, body—and now, hair. From the six-piece range, we’re especially enamored with the Gloss & Vibrancy Shampoo. It combines moisturizing linden flower, shine-enhancing chamomile, and plantain to boost collagen production and smooth the cuticle so hair lies flatter and reflects light—what’s not to love? The fact that it’s topped off with clarifying hops to prevent buildup over time only makes it more of an appealing daily go-to.
