Birthday Bottles: Phase Two of Kenzo’s 40th Bash
The house of Kenzo fêted its 40th anniversary in Paris last Tuesday, and the celebration continues this week with the launch of two new limited-edition fragrances. Seeing as how we’ve long been fans of the brand’s Beneficial Waters (delectably light, scented body sprays), the idea of get-’em-while-they-last eaux de toilette is exciting for a couple of reasons: First, there’s the exclusivity factor, and then there’s the olfactory compositions themselves. The feminine eau is built around peony notes with hints of freesia layered over a warm, amber finish, while the masculine scent is heavy on the vetiver and paired with the spicy zing of ginger, nutmeg, and coriander. Equally alluring is the packaging, which is an homage to Antonio Marras’ exceptional ready-to-wear fabrics—a turquoise and pink palette of florals interwoven with a woodblock print for her (think looks one to eight of the Spring show), and a flacon in rich brown, purple, and baby blue for him. If nothing else, both bottles are an easy way to add a Kenzo classic to your collection before the Spring clothes hit stores early next year.
