MAC And The IPad’s Plaid Ambitions

MAC has tackled that preferred fabric of hipsterdom, plaid, for Holiday 2010. Its 96-piece-strong Tartan Tale collection—with two charitable initiatives to boot (A Viva Glam lip pouch to benefit the MAC AIDS Fund and the Sir Teddy stuffed bear to benefit MAC’s Kids Helping Kids initiative)—officially launches online this week. Included among the offerings are plaid-print felt-topped compacts in 24 different Eyeshadow Kit varieties, two lip kits, and a blush and face kit—not to mention studded plaid and leather pouches to hold said compacts, along with all manner of loose lipstick bullets, eye shadow pots, and whatever else you can fit inside. It’s a little punk, a little posh, and, it turns out, a lot high-tech; A Tartan Tale, the iPad app, launches today on iTunes and allows you to live the fairy tale through a series of interactive prompts, while learning all about the makeup, of course.
