First Look: Chanel’s Riva
You’ll sadly have to wait until January to get your hands on the Black Pearl and the white, Pearl Drop lacquers Chanel’s global creative director of makeup, Peter Philips, whipped up for Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring show in Paris. But in just one short month, his brilliant varnish from the house’s Cruise collection will be available for your finger-painting pleasure. Feast your eyes on Riva, the pale pastel blue that adorned models’ fingertips in Saint-Tropez. A much sheerer version of Philips’ Nouvelle Vague from Les Pop-Up de Chanel, the new hue could almost be considered a neutral (two coats will give you a nice flash of barely-there color, while three will provide a more opaque finish). The powdery shade is meant to hark back to Riviera summers circa the seventies, which happens to be exactly what we’ll be daydreaming of when the December cold sets in.
