Making the LEAP From Soaps to Skincare

LEAP Organics first caught our attention back in July when the company launched a neat assortment of organic soaps housed in illustrated boxes that looked like storybook covers. We were particularly taken with its Lavender Bar Soap, which combines delicate, skin-softening ingredients like lavender flowers and orange oil but depicts a bold, masculine stag on the front of the box—who says floral soaps have to be frilly? Now the startup eco-brand from Cambridge, Massachusetts, is releasing a well-designed four-piece natural skincare range. Like its soaps, the products are made by entirely sustainable practices, using 93 percent USDA-certified organic, vegan, and biodegradable ingredients, all packaged with recyclable, zero-waste materials. The collection includes a rosewater and aloe toner as well as two cleanser options—one with grapefruit and green tea to gently dissolve dirt, the other with exfoliating açaí, pomegranate, and orange peel to slough away dull skin. Best of all is the Organic Daily Face Lotion, a beautiful blend of sweet almond oil, cupuaçu butters, chamomile, and antioxidant-rich rooibos tea that gives your skin a noticeably soft glow that lasts all day. It’s lightly scented with lavender and orange essential oils and housed in a palm-size pump decorated with a sly fox on its label (there is no SPF in the formula, so remember to top off for UV protection). Besides being extremely affordable—the assortment ranges from $13 to $17—there’s the added benefit of your cash going toward a good cause: The company donates 3 percent of all profits to environmental organizations.
