Carol’s Daughter Goes Nuts

The health benefits of nuts are well-known—packed with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, and fiber, they can help prevent heart disease, lower cholesterol, and boost hair and skin radiance, too. But there’s only one nut that Brooklyn-born beauty brand Carol’s Daughter had eyes for when concocting its latest release: macadamia. The rich, tropical delight with the highest amount of good-for-you monounsaturated fats first originated in Australia and made its way to Hawaiian shores in the late 1800′s; both places still bring the most macadamias to the masses. What has endeared the buttery nut to the beauty world is the significant amount of super-moisturizing and nourishing oleic acid that it contains. In CD’s new Macadamia Heat Protection Gloss, the absorbent oil is combined with hydrolyzed silk and pro-vitamin B5 to create a powerful protective shield against frizz and damage from overzealous heat styling. The accompanying Macadamia Weightless Shine Mist boasts a blend of macadamia and safflower oil that is fortified with vitamins A and C for the ultimate light finishing spray. The product duo just launched on the brand’s Web site, so best to, um, get crackin’.
