Lacquer Love From Topshop
I have a confession to make: I’ve been uncharacteristically lax with my manicures of late. Some back-to-back travel is mostly to blame, not to mention one of the longest-lasting polish jobs I’ve ever gotten outside of CND’s Shellac. Dior’s re-released Vernis Long-Wearing Nail Lacquer has some serious staying power. But my enthusiasm for experimenting with polish colors and design has been revived, thanks to a seasonal dip into Essie Bordeaux territory. I’m planning to try out Chanel’s Riva soon, but first I’m test-driving Topshop’s new nail polish trios. My three-bottle set of choice features Utilitarian, a dark gray/khaki; Silver Bullet, an opaque metallic; and Gypsy Night, a multicolored glitter with a sheer brown base. The colors in the collection, which is only available in-store stateside (although you can order it online through the U.K. Web site), work on their own, or you can layer them for different effects. I’m currently sporting one coat of Utilitarian topped off with a coat of Gypsy Night, and it’s holiday festive without being garish. There’s no telling what I’ll get into this weekend with that bottle of Silver Bullet.
