Behold, The iPedi
Devoted readers of this blog and those who know me well are plenty aware of my nail obsession. It’s rare to see me without polished fingers and toes, but I have been going bare of late. Certain obligations make it near impossible to devote 45 minutes to sitting in a leather massage chair luxuriating in a sudsy, jet-powered foot bath during most salons’ hours of operation. Said obligations typically require a fast Wi-Fi connection and a laptop, and while bringing my trusty MAC Powerbook along for the ride is something I’ve done before, it’s not necessarily optimal (I may or may not have some lasting shoulder issues from the days when I used to carry that 13-incher around with me all day). Haven feels my pain, though. “For the New York woman, it’s so hard to disconnect,” the Soho relaxation destination’s spa manager explains. “So why not give the people what they want?” In this case, what the people want—no, need—is the latest innovation in beauty treatments: the iPedi. Starting today, you can choose any of the pedicures on Haven’s extensive spa menu (the Foot Renaissance is a particularly worthwhile indulgence) and have full access to a complimentary iPad, which come standard at all three of its pedicure stations. Choose from an array of varnishes from brands like Zoya and Essie, while, say, clicking through the Style.com app (which is already loaded into every single console, FYI) or reading The New York Times. And not to worry; if you just can’t part with the learned behavior of flipping through the gossip mags while that second coat dries, there’s an app for that, too.
