EXCLUSIVE: Nars Makes Movie Magic-------
Seeing as how film is fast becoming fashion designers’ favorite medium, it’s not surprising that beauty industry heavyweights are also getting into cinemercials. As anyone who watched last year’s MTV Music Awards will recall, Frida Giannini enlisted Frank Miller to direct Evan Rachel Wood in a Sin City-esque short starring her latest women’s scent, Gucci Guilty. And Chanel, meanwhile, got Martin Scorsese to shoot French actor Gaspard Ulliel for its big men’s launch, Chanel Bleu. Now François Nars—a movie buff known for naming products after iconic films; Klute, the 1971 Jane Fonda hit, inspired a frosty lilac lipstick—has hopped on the trend. He released Pure Matte: Infinite Reflections last summer in anticipation of the lip product’s fall release. And he’s at it again for spring, collaborating with fashion filmmaker Ruth Hogben (she of Gareth Pugh and Givenchy fame) to celebrate the launch of his latest pout perfector, the Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil. The six-shade range officially debuts at www.narscosmetics.com on February 1, but we’ve got the Heather Marks-fronted film’s premiere for you right now. Click above to watch.
