Pretty In Pink

As we idle in seasonal transition—our monstrous heating bills say winter, but retailer inventories are already screaming spring—a single makeup staple is quietly making its annual re-entrance: blush. Possessing the ability to give the appearance of both a cold-weather flush and a warm, sun-kissed glow, the pink powdery compacts have just started flooding our desk. First up for review is Bella Bamba, the latest from Benefit. The California-based brand is no stranger to getting cheeky, having already graced us with boxed face powders like Georgia, which imparts a peachy glow, and Coralista, which leaves behind a tropical finish. This latest installment, however, is pure pink—branded as pink in 3-D, in fact, for shimmering gold undertones that add dimension, brighten, and sculpt in one fell swoop. With holographic packaging to boot, it’s a bright, fun reminder that spring will come. Never mind the increasingly large snowbanks outside.
