Estée Lauder’s Wild World
It was a balmy 38 degrees in New York this past Sunday, which meant visions of incipient spring, open-toed shoes, and light, cheery fragrances were dancing in our head. In addition to cutting out a few layers from our normal wardrobe routine, the veritable heat wave presented the perfect opportunity to test-drive Estée Lauder’s new Wild Elixir. Released in conjunction with makeup artist Tom Pecheux’s Wild Coral and Wild Violet limited-edition makeup collections, the floral eau de toilette boasts freesia, marigold, violet leaves, gardenia, jasmine, and water lily—sort of like the verdant backyard garden of your fantasies, only bottled. A splash of mandarin adds zest, while amber, musk, and sandalwood bring a heady dose of sensuality to what would otherwise be just another pretty, girly perfume. Then there’s the sleek neon pink glass flacon, which, now poised on my bureau, is a lovely reminder of the warmer weather that (hopefully) lies ahead.
