Odin’s Domestic Bliss

Paul Birardi and Eddy Chai’s debut collection of fragrances for their Odin brand is almost two years young, and starting tomorrow there will be a whole new way to enjoy them. All four unisex perfumes are getting the scented candle treatment, so your personal spaces can smell as good as your pulse points. For the oriental and chyphre fans out there, 01 Sunda’s Himalayan cedar leaves, bergamot, spicy black pepper, and tonka beans leave a warm spicy aroma in the wake of their flame, while 03 Century’s liquid myrrh, earthy cypress, grapefruit leaves, and amber have a fresh sweetness. If you fell for Odin’s ambitious floral eau, 04 Petrana, which made black calla lilies, deep purple cassis, black iris, and wild orris root appealing to both sexes, you’ll also be taken with the votive version’s gender-bending abilities. But our vote goes to 02 Owari, which seems the most conducive to room-scenting. The slate-colored wax emits Mandarin essences that intermingle with amyris wood, crisp neroli, and Tonkin musk. With 60 hours of burn time, it’s the perfect complement to peeling off all that weather tape, opening up your windows, and doing a little spring cleaning.
