Freja Does Bare-Faced Beach Beauty

Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams swear by makeup artist and Stila founder Jeanine Lobell’s steady hand for their red-carpet cameos. But since it was announced last year that Lobell was to become the chief creative director of Kevyn Aucoin Beauty, we’ve seen little of the famed face painter’s work in her new role. Enter Vogue Japan, which got Lobell to showcase a whole lot of it for a July beauty supplement starring a fresh-faced Freja Beha Erichsen and standouts from the Kevyn Aucoin line. True to her signature style, Lobell kept her focus mostly on the skin, buffing a totally flawless bronzed finish onto Erichsen’s complexion and doing little else, save for some smudged black mascara and a paled-out pout. Turns out you don’t need fluorescent lips and tips to do summer beauty right. We’re psyched to see what kind of compacts and skin finishers Lobell dreams up for her full-scale KAB debut—whenever that may be.
