The Lip Stain Advances

At first glance, Smashbox’s new Limitless Lip Stain may seem like old news; the lip-stain-as-marker concept has been successfully imagined by beauty brands, both haute (YSL) and mainstream (Cover Girl), for a few years now. But there’s innovation to be found here and it comes in the form of a double-sided pen with a marker-tipped stain on one end, and a super-smooth tinted balm on the other. The emollient balm, which boasts a light dose of sheer pigment, can be used on its own or with the opposite stain as a quick color boost and moisturizing fix. All six super-saturated shades in the collection stay put for up to eight hours—and then some, we’ve found. Be prepared to use a little elbow grease to get these babies off.
