Forget Nail Art; Break Out Your Nail Rings

-------

Fingernail fashion has reached a whole new level over the past few years, with eccentric neon lacquers and animal-print overlays taking cuticles by storm. Accessories brand Erickson Beamon has put its own spin on the high-stakes game by debuting decked-out talons-turned-jewelry that have been sported by everyone from Rihanna and Fergie to Lady Gaga (who happens to be wearing them on every finger in the music video for new single “Judas”). “We first made fingertips and then we made them into fingernail rings,” designer Karen Erickson told us. “It was an evolution and they’ve become more difficult and intricate as they evolve.” Not to mention popular. Style.com caught wind of one of Erickson’s latest designs at a dinner party recently, where Bravo’s Work of Art hostess China Chow was talking up a new piece of nail bling that she had just purchased from Erickson. Unlike Gaga, Chow isn’t ready to sport a full set of claws just yet, although she did admit to dabbling in the brand’s “Duchess of Fabulous” gunmetal, cone-shaped toppers. Instead, Chow has settled on a bejeweled, colorful garden motif to adorn her fingertips (see image above). Who needs a manicure?
