From Lacquer To Lip Gloss: Sula Does Makeup-------
When we say Sula, the three words that presumably pop into your head are “paint-and-peel.” The Canadian brand’s claim to fame is its chemical-free, water-based nail polish that can be peeled off, eliminating the need for acetone polish removers. Founder Susanne Lang also boasts an impressive roster of beautiful eaux de parfum and nourishing lip balms, but for a brand so adept at capturing color in a nontoxic way, natural makeup always seemed distinctly missing from its coffers. Until now, that is. Sula’s first-ever foray into cosmetics hits Ulta stores next week, featuring jojoba and shea butter-enriched formulas and antioxidant-boosted natural pigments for eyes, face, and lips. Free of parabens, phthalates, silicones, and petroleum byproducts, the lineup includes a lipstick, lip gloss, lip and cheek tint, blush, eye crayons, and both powder and creaseless cream eye shadows. But don’t be fooled: While the pretty packaging and super-wearable textures may seem über-luxe at first glance, they’re shockingly affordable. Each item rings in at a cool $8. If things go according to plan, the collection could go mass. Imagine popping into your local Duane Reade and walking out with that chubby stick of multipurpose tint.
