The FDA Cracks Down On SPF; Kate Middleton (And Her Hairdresser) Are Coming To America; And More…


The FDA’s outdated guidelines for sunscreen labels, which have been in effect since 1978, were just kicked up several notches. A new ruling was passed this week mandating that sunscreens must protect equally against both UVB and UVA rays to be considered “broad spectrum.” What’s more, all “waterproof” and “sweatproof” claims have been banned. A huge step in the right direction to fight skin cancer, but one that should’ve come decades ago, if you ask us. [NYT]

The Duchess of Cambridge is America-bound for an 11-day tour, and while the burgeoning fashion icon is reportedly packing light, she will be bringing at least one heavy accessory. That’d be her trusted hairdresser, James Pryce. If there’s one thing that’ll win over the stateside crowd, it’ll be Middleton’s signature bouncy blow-outs. [Mirror]
