The Cat’s Meow

Behind every great designer, there’s often a great muse. McQueen had Isabella Blow and Daphne Guinness; Yves Saint Laurent had Loulou de la Falaise; Tom Ford had Carine Roitfeld; and Christian Dior had Mitzah Bricard. A key influencer in the creation of his famous New Look collection, the effortlessly elegant Bricard—whom Monsieur Dior dubbed his “style empress”—has already been immortalized by the house with Mitzah, a fragrance in its Couturier Parfumeur collection. But a true muse deserves more than one homage. For fall, Dior has released a very desirable trove of makeup that has been designed in tribute to Bricard’s style signature: leopard print. In addition to her love for statement jewels and the color lavender, Mitzah almost always had a leopard scarf tied around her wrist. The print is now the star of the limited-edition eye shadow palette—a spotted swirl of rich chocolate, sand, and beige hues which can be swiped on individually or combined together in one fell swoop across the lid—and a duo of nail polishes in the same appealingly tawny shades. Rounding out the range is a dark cocoa-colored mascara that is lovely for a more natural look or for super-blond lashes. We’re wild about all of it.
