Elizabeth Olsen Comes Out On Top

We love a good topknot—even more so now that our chin-grazing angled bob has grown out well past our shoulders—which is why we fell hard for Elizabeth Olsen’s latest red-carpet turn. In support of her Cannes hit Martha Marcy May Marlene, Olsen took the New York Film Festival by storm last night with her embrace of the high-and-tight updo. Elizabeth is considerably taller than her sisters, designers Ashley and Mary-Kate, which makes working this statuesque style somewhat easier; the halterneck of her black Alexander McQueen dress also helps, as its collar is begging for something simple and swept up. (If you’re going to divert from wearing The Row for one night, McQueen is a more than suitable alternative.) Thoughts on the look?

Perfect. When you have something elegant like this McQueen, with details on around the neck, you shouldn’t hide it with long hair.
