First Look: New Chanel Nail Polishes For Spring
It was hard to know where to look backstage at Chanel yesterday. Between the makeup artists individually applying pearls onto models’ faces and the house’s global creative director of makeup, Peter Philips, creating a gorgeous glow using a mix of his Illusion d’Ombre eye shadows from Fall, it was definitely a beauty moment worth writing home about. But our eyes did manage to wander over to the nail station, where they so often do, as we fixed our gaze on these lovelies. “I’m doing three colors for Spring—April, May, and June,” Philips told us of his new lacquer offerings, which are sure to incite a frenzy when they hit shelves in January. The colors are a bit softer than they appear in this iPhone snap we managed to take while processing the sensory overload, so June’s tangerine is slightly more subtle in person and that much more lust-worthy. April’s rosy fuchsia is also speaking to us, which leads us to our usual predicament following a Chanel show: It’s not a question of whether Philips’ polishes will be incorporated into our manicure routine next year, it’s a matter of which one. Making matters even more complicated is the gorgeous, opalescent, opaque pearl varnish he also used for the show that may or may not be going into production. Which is your early favorite?
Update: we got a hold of a way better picture of all three lacquers. Two words: eye candy.
