L’Occitane X ORBIS Takes Flight

L’Occitane is no stranger to charitable beauty initiatives. The southern French brand was one of the first in the industry to institute fair-trade ingredient sourcing practices and has been working with women’s cooperatives in Burkina Faso to obtain the shea butter in its core range of skin salves since the 1980′s. This holiday season, the company is going the extra mile—make that air mile—to help facilitate change through the simple act of washing your hands. Today marks the launch of its softly scented, shea butter-infused Get on Board for Sight Limited Edition Soaps, 100 percent of the proceeds of which will go to support ORBIS, an NGO committed to ending preventable blindness. Inspired by the ORBIS plane, a.k.a. the Flying Hospital—a fully equipped jetliner that travels to countries that do not have the means to perform routine, corrective surgeries—the soaps have been molded into adorable, miniature planes with glasses available in Pink (a floral and fruity fragrance) and Blue (a verbena fragrance). Their cumulative sales will help launch a large-scale ORBIS initiative in Burkina Faso. Lather, rinse, repeat has never been more important.
