London’s Skincare Calling

October 7, 2011  4:37 pm

The Spring shows are over, which means four weeks worth of skincare rehab begins now. Besides drinking water and trying to catch up on sleep, the best thing you can do to restore a weary complexion is schedule a visit to your facialist stat. For many a Londoner, that go-to aesthetician is Kate Logan. The skin pro has been rescuing the worn-out pores of models, makeup artists, and Brit It girls for more than a decade, quietly working her magic with homemade salves and her signature treatment—a customized journey through skin-healing herbs and plants, all grown by Logan herself. The service became such a hit a few years back that Logan had to close her appointment books to manage the influx of calls and now only sees existing clients once a week. Unfortunately, we’re not on that list. But Logan recently bottled the same organic elixirs she uses in her hard-to-come-by sessions, creating a made-to-order collection for the rest of us. Everything is hand-mixed and free of any preservatives, so they need to be applied promptly—which shouldn’t be an issue with fan favorites like the Borage & Calendula Skin Balm and Rose Otto Healing Balm, a heavy-duty moisturizer infused with healing rose absolute and almond oil that Jessica Stam first tipped us off to. Logan will also change up the ingredients based on a client’s specific concerns or allergies upon request (like substituting almond wax for beeswax for skin-conscious vegans). Up next for the in-demand facialist is a “heady range of scented oils and potions,” she tells Style.com, that’s set to launch this month and will offer mind-body benefits that extend beyond traditional aromatherapy—something else that should help lull you back into a sense of relative calm following the season that was.

  1. We love Kate Logan and are in fact the only retailer in the US to sell the range sourcing it over a year ago. Find it at Shen Beauty in Brooklyn and buy online at http://www.shen-beauty.com as the Rose Otto is one of our best seller.
