Chapped Lips? Pour Some Sugar On Them
Whenever people ask me about my makeup bag must-haves, the answer reliably comes back the same: concealer, mascara, and, of course, lip balm. A well-moisturized mouth is a priority to me no matter what time of year it is, although it has become increasingly important in the last few weeks. With the New York weather flux that’s seen 60-degree days followed by 30-degree nights, my allergies have been crazy—which means I need to have a constant tissue supply and a good chapped-lip defense plan at the ready. My current pout emollient of choice is Fresh’s new Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment. The latest installment to the brand’s always popular Sugar Lip collection, this one is meant to be more of a long-term remedy than a simple stain or SPF top coat. Created under the pretense that lips are an often neglected part of any well-rounded beauty routine, Fresh co-founder Lev Glazman believes that you need to treat the area around your mouth as you would the sensitive skin underneath your eyes. As such, he loaded this new, clear stick with antiaging ingredients like sea fennel and orange extracts to fend off free radicals and reduce the appearance of fine lines, as well as hylauronic acid spheres to impart a smooth, plump finish. But its the mixture of cupuacu butter and plum seed and passionflower oils that you’ll notice right away, as any dryness magically melts away immediately after you apply it. Editor’s note: While the salve is great during the day, slathering it on before bed will yield soft, supple lips in the morning.
