The places on our dream vacation list are constantly increasing. Iceland, St. Petersburg, Marrakech, Oman, Berlin, Patagonia, Vietnam…we could go on and on. Copenhagen, that capital of cool—and positive vibes (according to a recent survey, Denmark tops the list of the world’s happiest countries)—has long maintained a position right at the top. And though we haven’t made it to the Scandinavian hot spot yet, we’ve managed to get our hands on two of the best new beauty lines from Danish beauty industry vet Charlotte Fnug Munksgaard. Organic M.A.K.E., a collection of whimsically packaged skincare products, is inspired by the sea and based on carefully curated ingredients, like algae, seaweed, and mineral salts that are all 98.5 percent natural origin. The face mask is a standout with its surprisingly pleasant, almost peachy scent and instant skin-tightening abilities (Munksgaard recommends using it on tired, puffy eyes in the morning: Leave a small amount of product under lower lids and let it dry while you have breakfast to drastically diminish swelling). Like its sister brand, Munksgaard’s second effort, a lacquer line called FNUG, is also naturally minded—no toulene, formaldehyde, or DBP here. We’re suckers for a great polish and these fit the bill: high-gloss and durable enough to go a few days without chipping, with an impressive color palette to boot. We’re particularly fond of the selection of neutrals, like the muted green Wedges and the grayish-lavender Must Have, and the rich browns from the recently launched Winter collection, like Love Chic and Clogs. And so our fascination with Denmark grows ever deeper.
