Ricky’s NYC Gets Pinned

Ricky’s NYC, that storied New York—and soon to be national—beauty institution where wigs, niche skincare lines, hair accessories, and French maid costumes come together under one roof, frequently sponsors shows at New York fashion week. Just as frequently, the store’s creative forces will design pro tools for session stylists like Kevin Ryan to help ease the insanity that can ensue backstage. For spring, the good folks at Ricky’s dreamt up this ingenious magnetic wristband. Part rubberized slap bracelet, part magnet, it is intended to serve as a quick and easy receptacle for hair pins, so when you need to secure that chignon stat, you can do so with total ease. While it was originally meant as a strictly professional item, the store got so many requests for the bracelets after editors started clamoring over them that it produced a limited quantity for retail, which promptly sold out. But starting this week, the bracelets are back by popular demand—and pretty handy, even if you’re not keying a fashion show anytime soon.
