Beauty As Spectator Sport-------
As a resident of Brooklyn, we are obviously conflicted about the new, hyped-up Nets stadium that is quickly taking shape in Atlantic Yards. On the one hand, there’s the prospective increase in traffic—not to mention the tourist trap of questionable restaurants and bars that tend to accompany such spectacles; on the other hand, there’s the potential for a bounty of celebrity sightings as A-listers (and presumably a host of B-listers) flock to see a mediocre team play in hip, happening Kings County. The fact that Jay-Z is a part owner of said team will hopefully ensure at least one appearance from Beyoncé and new baby Blue Ivy when the arena opens later this year—not to mention a cadre of other superstars loyal to the hip-hop superstar and producer, Rihanna included. Until the Barclays Center is officially open for business, though, we’ll have to be content watching RiRi take her seat at L.A.’s Staples Center—stilettos, short shorts, and all—sporting one of the best courtside beauty looks we’ve seen in a while: Nothing says “Go Lakers!” like a mess of highlighted ringlets, a matte burgundy lip, lots of lashes, and pink, oval tips. What do you think: too much for a ball game, or just the right amount of “spirit”?
