Bobbi Brown’s New Neutrals
Bobbi Brown has always had a knack for neutrals. This is the woman, after all, who kicked off her now-legendary career as a beauty entrepreneur with an Essentials collection of ten tawny-hued lipsticks designed to be universally flattering makeup building blocks. Whenever we have found ourselves in need of perfectly executed beauty basics to add to our stash over the years—particularly those of the taupe, sand, chocolate, and classic black varieties—we’ve pointed our compass directly to Brown’s counter. For her latest trick, Brown has honed what she does best, while adding a serious shot of color. Her new Neons & Nudes collection features shocking hints of Fanta orange, bright violet, and a nearly fluorescent pink, all of which are split between lipsticks, glosses, and highly pigmented single eye shadows. Our favorite bright in the bunch is the Lip Color in Atomic Orange, a hue so loud and rich that it almost negates the need for anything else on the face at all. But the collection’s Ultra Nudes Eye Palette, a compact of six barely-there pigments with names like Chino and Praline, proves to be an essential counterpart to a retina-burning pout.
