KONJAC /(con-jak) /n./ 1. Also known as Amorphophallus konjac, a perennial plant native to Asia with a brown, bulbous, potato-like root that grows at high altitudes; /n./ 2. An ancient Japanese medicinal treatment that is now popular in local cuisine where it is used as a thickener or jelly in noodle dishes; /n./ 3. A starch-heavy vegetable that is 97 percent water and 3 percent glucomannan dietary fiber; /n./ 4. A mineral-rich natural exfoliant frequently made into sponges in Asia to gently slough away dead skin, e.g. “Have your konjac for smooth skin—and eat it, too.”
