Nose Candy

Acqua Di Parma’s Blu Ambition

February 22, 2012  3:51 pm

In addition to forgetting my new, extremely coveted Chloe Susannah boots and a Proenza T-shirt that has become a fashion week wardrobe staple this season, I also apparently neglected to bring body lotion with me when I left for Milan last night. (I’ll spare you the details of my harried packing experience and the brutal traffic on the Van Wyck Expressway that nearly made me miss my plane; needless to say, I earned that in-flight glass of white wine.) I’m still mourning the loss of the boots, but I kind of liked the idea of pilfering the Milanese pharmacies in search of something to slather onto my parched limbs in lieu of my regular moisturizer—until, that is, I arrived at my hotel to discover a full amenities lineup from Acqua di Parma. The quintessential Italian fragrance house, whose Colonia is one of my all-time favorite unisex eau, makes a mean body lotion that keeps you subtly smelling like citrus, lavender, and verbena all day while soothing dry skin. The house is also well known for its Blu Mediterraneo collection, which is about to get a packaging makeover replete with a line up of new scented salves. The five-piece range includes fragrance combinations dedicated to Italy’s famed resort destinations: Arancia di Capri is rich in mandarin, lemon, and cardamom; Mirto di Panarea is ripe with notes of myrtle, basil, and jasmine; Bergamotto di Calabria packs a hefty bergamot, citron, and red ginger punch; Fico di Amalfi boasts wafts of grapefruit, fig, and pink pepper essences; and Mandorlo di Sicilia has the sweet scent of star anise, green Mediteranean almond, and vanilla Tolu balm. Starting next month, the entire line will be rebottled in a blue version of the brand’s original cylindrical glass flacon, and each scent will get its own corresponding 200 ml body lotion. Note to self: Don’t leave home without it.

Available beginning March 2012 at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and select Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom locations.
