Viva La Biopel!

February 15, 2012  5:45 pm

We have fashion week to thank for our discovery of a host of multitasking skincare secrets that the makeup industry’s best and brightest tote around with them from New York to Paris. Lucia Pieroni introduced us to Egyptian Magic, and it was Tom Pecheux who first convinced us of the genius that is Homeoplasmine, the Paris pharmacie staple. But last night at Narciso Rodriguez (more on that in a bit), Dick Page blew our mind with a little something from the pharmacia. “My Antonios gave it to me,” Page said of Biopel, a Spanish skin salve that his two assistants—both of whom are apparently named Antonio—gifted the Shiseido artistic director while they were on location in Spain, shooting Missoni’s Spring, Pedro Almodóvar-fronted ad campaign. “It’s the cheap Spanish drugstore Eight Hour Cream,” he explained of the tube that boasts a totally covetable eighties-era font, and which we’ve also spotted in the face painter’s station at Marc by Marc and again at Michael Kors this morning. There is a small chance that we might be in Barcelona this summer, and should that jaunt actually materialize, we’ll be coming home with a few of these. Friends, put in your requests now.
