Shiseido’s Past Perfect
Before Shiseido became known the world over for its incredibly inventive makeup images—a reputation that was bolstered by legendary art director Serge Lutens iconic ad visuals from the eighties, and that has persisted to this day thanks to a legacy that includes the talents of current artistic director of makeup, Dick Page—it was a household name courtesy of is Eudermine Revitalizing Essence. Created in 1897 by Dr. Nagayoshi Nagai, the Japanese brand’s fan-favorite skin-softening solution quickly gained acclaim as a mild exfoliator and moisturizer to prep lips and skin and continues to be used in pretty much the same manner over 100 years later. To celebrate the company’s 140th anniversary this year, Shiseido has released a collector’s edition of the elixir in its original red glass, apothecary-style bottle. The flacon is totally refillable, too, so you can have it as a fully functional keepsake long after you burn your way through its face-saving contents.
