The Fab Faux-------
Temperatures have been on a veritable roller-coaster ride these past few weeks, but two things remain clear: Miniskirts, shorts, and the occasional flowy dress are now permanently in the fold; and our sun-starved legs aren’t quite ready for that kind of exposure. While breaking out the self-tanner seems a little drastic at the moment, temporary body bronzers offer exactly what we’re looking for in the form of a sun-kissed look without the commitment. Here, we’ve assembled a list of our favorite new offerings to get you glowing, without the Caribbean vacation.
What: Sisley Phyto-Touch Gel Teinté Corps
Why: Nine years after introducing its cult gel bronzer for the face,
Sisley is launching a version for the body. Its supercharged formula, which dries down to a sheer sun-kissed finish, is loaded with naturally hydrating ingredients like shea butter and sunflower oil and scented with an intoxicating blend of magnolia, rose, and geranium essences.
$115, available May 2012 at www.sisley-cosmetics.com.
What: Too Faced Royal Oil Coconut Oil Body Bronzer
Why: On top of coating skin with a hint of bronze, this nourishing, amber-hued body oil also hydrates with coconut and mangosteen oils, the latter of which is a powerful antioxidant that double-times as protection from harmful UV rays.
What: Givenchy Mister Radiant Body
Why: A “body shimmer” designation may sound a little tween-y at first, but it has gotten a super-chic upgrade thanks to Givenchy, which has infused its version with a trio of different colored microbeads—micro being the operative word here: Pearlescent gold deposits a finely milled sparkle, deep bronze imparts a subtle insta-tan, and white infuses skin with the antioxidant vitamin E.
What: LORAC TANtalizer Deep Body Bronzing Luminizer
Why: For anyone whose complexion is medium-to-dark no matter the season (lucky), makeup artist Carol Shaw’s addition to her popular Tantalizer bronzing line will become your new favorite essential. A darker version of Shaw’s original fast-drying body makeup, it’s got gold standard written all over it.
What: Victoria’s Secret Beach Sexy Bronze Glow Body Tint
Why: VS is perhaps the retail market’s biggest proponent of exposed skin (think: mini collegiate shorts and pink midriff-flaunting crop tops), so it shouldn’t be surprising that the lingerie purveyor also has the goods to make limbs worthy of exposing. Its new temporary tan leaves legs perfectly bronzed; getting the svelte length and tone of one of its legendary Angels is another story.
