The Butterfly Effect

-------

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Peter Philips loves to facepaint in 3-D. Don’t get us wrong: Chanel’s creative director of makeup knows his way around the blush brush and mascara wand, too. But it’s his willingness to experiment with extravagant appliqués that continues to surprise and amaze us. Allow us to present exhibit A: his handiwork backstage at Chanel’s Fall show, where he enlisted the services of French embroidery house Lesage to create precious stone-encrusted eyebrows. Exhibit B just presented itself in the new issue of Dazed & Confused, in which Philips teamed up with photographer Ben Toms for some truly boundary-pushing beauty. Digitally enhanced butterfly face masks with perfect skin and frosted natural lips? Yes we will. Thoughts on Philips’ latest walk on the wild side?
