Besame Takes A Powder

Excess shine: two words that you’re likely familiar with at this point in the summer. Between the ever-rising temperatures and that classic New York humidity, it’s near impossible to go through the day without eventually looking at yourself in the mirror only to find that the perfectly dewy skin you left the house with in the morning has turned into an unsightly gleam (not glow). We’re not big into powder around here, but there are certain occasions—like, say, today’s scorching conditions—that call for it. The latest from Besame fits the bill in that it not only mattifies but imparts a natural luminescence thanks to the addition of violet essence, which gives the product a subtle sweet scent as well as a faint lavender tint that naturally lifts and lights up skin. Like the rest of the line, the translucent powder comes in a retro, 1930′s-inspired compact with the brand’s signature red and gold color scheme, which will make you that much more inclined to pull it out of your bag—with regularity; even that walk from the office to the Starbucks can be brutal.
