Topshop Beauty Gets A Designer Collaboration Of Its Own

Topshop is not new to the designer collaboration game. Successful partnerships between the U.K.-based retail giant and local talent like Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Kane, Kate Moss, and J.W. Anderson (coming this fall), have spelled success for clotheshorses looking to get their fashion fix, fast. But the brand has yet to give its two-year-old beauty line the same kind of star power—an injustice that has finally been rectified. Introducing the Louise Gray x Topshop color collection for Fall, which abides by the two words that typically inform Gray’s runway shows: “young” and “fun.” This, after all, is the woman who has used The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as backstage beauty inspiration and christened the term “face confetti” after makeup artist James O’Reilly drew multicolored polka dots onto models’ faces at her Fall 2011 show. Her Topshop range comes with a similar stockpile of whimsy. Pastel pink and mint green packaging houses bright lipsticks in Mexican Wave, a bright orange, and Legend, a hot fuchsia; a creamy tangerine and rouge Cheek duo; and even a bright blue liquid eyeliner. Gray’s “face confetti” concept also makes a comeback here, this time in the form of glitter pots featuring circle- and heart-shaped iridescent sequins; the better to adorn lids and tips with.
